‘press freedom’
VOA not only provides independent news to countries where there are few such options, it also shows people who live in highly-censored countries that an unfiltered view of the world is both possible and empowering. Experts say that VOA models a free press to the world, and in doing so provides a window into how democratic societies function and how they are fueled by free expression.
