East Asia and Pacific
Before VOA’s East Asia and Pacific Division was largely silenced in March 2025, it was broadcasting in 10 languages, which included some of VOA’s longest running-programming. Seven of VOA’s language services to the region launched before or within the first few years of VOA’s official establishment in 1942: Cantonese, Mandarin, Indonesian, Korean, Thai, Burmese and Vietnamese. VOA later added programming in Khmer, Lao and Tibetan.
