‘telling America's story’
A crucial part of VOA’s mission is explaining all aspects of America — including its policies, history, people and ideals — to its global audience. VOA has also taught millions of people English through its "Learning English" programs. Experts say that VOA tells important stories about the U.S. in parts of the world where governments are actively blocking good news about America.
